Basic Drawing

This page focuses on and features the artwork I made and created while taking Basic Design(Fall 2023 – ART 134) taught by Professor David Carpenter. The reason I chose to take this class is not only because it was a great introduction to what the art program at SNC has to offer but helped me become more confident in my work. The class was both a lecture and hands on worktime class that helped us gain a better understanding of the fundamentals of drawing. We learned about the importance of perspective, lines, depth, modeling, light and shadow, and composition while using a limited color palette. The work was often done in pencil and charcoal and helped me become better at focal points and not being afraid to push myself further. Before taking this class, I struggled with proportions and constantly feared committing to a piece; However after taking it, I have become more flexible and comfortable with drawing, especially if they don’t turn out the way I wanted it to.
